Makassar, October 7, 2019 - Cashlez continues to move rapidly in expanding and penetrating markets in Indonesia. This time, Cashlez officially spread its wings to Makassar on Monday, October 7, 2019 across the Karebosi Link, Baru, Ujung Pandang District, Makassar City, South Sulawesi. The inauguration was carried out symbolically by Cashlez Commissioner Steven Samudera, Cashlez CEO Teddy Tee, and Assistant II Makassar City, Sitiara witnessed by bank partners, Cashlez traders, and media partners. This new branch office further complements the Cashlez office network which now exists in 7 cities namely Jakarta, Bali, Bandung, Surabaya, Medan, Yogyakarta and Makassar.
The presence of Cashlez in Makassar City suggested to assist the government in digitizing business people, especially MSME to switch from cash to non-cash. Referring to the data of the Office of Cooperatives & MSME South Sulawesi Province, the number of MSME owners is 176,637 engaged in various sectors.
Cashlez CEO Teddy Tee said that, "Cashlez’s presence in Makassar is our effort to gather more business owners who have not yet received non-commercial payments, specifically MSME. Makassar has great potential and the government is very supportive of MSME in Makassar to switch to digital. Therefore, we want to help the government to introduce and educate these non-cash transactions, "
Teddy added that the non-cash transactions received by MSME Makassar are expected to increase turnover from business owners and increase the economy of Makassar.
Cashlez chose Makassar City to withdraw its network as well because Makassar is a tourist destination with a large market potential. Tourist destinations are the main focus of Cashlez in collaboration with VISA to facilitate travel in these destinations in accepting electronic payments that are fast, safe and reliable. Electronic payment receipts are expected to help cash payments in large numbers of 17 million foreign tourists who sponsored a visit to Indonesia by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in 2019.
"The Makassar branch office officially began operating in early May. Our initial strategy in getting closer to business owners in Makassar is to provide education about non-cash payments, because through this education business owners can better understand, both in terms of benefits and their use, "added Steven Samudera, Chief Commissioner of Cashlez.
Founded in 2015, Cashlez provides Point-of-Sale mobile services and receipt of non-cash payments (credit cards, debit cards, e-wallets) in one application. Cashlez already has a permit from Bank Indonesia and recently received a World Record award from MURI. At present, Cashlez has helped more than 6,000 business owners, ranging from Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) to companies. Furthermore, Cashlez will continue to focus on expanding and winning markets for the sake of a cashless society in Indonesia.
