Until now, the financial cycle in Indonesia is still dominated by cash. However, based on data reported from
wartakota.tribunnews.com, 77% of Indonesian people will more often make non-cash transactions in the next 12 months. In fact, 41% of survey respondents are optimistic that the Government of Indonesia can realize a non-cash community within a period of 3 years. This is different from the study conducted last year, where the majority of respondents predicted that non-cash communities in Indonesia would only be realized in a period of 8 to 15 years.
The cashless trend that has occurred over the past few years is a solution to the problems that we often experience. When we want to make payments using cash, we certainly have to calculate the overall nominal amount of money given by the customer. This requires extra time and energy, right? Not to mention if the money is damaged or worn out so it is not suitable to be used when making transactions. On the one hand, we do not want to disappoint customers for refusing the money. But on the other hand, it would be rude if we gave the money to the customer as change.
The transition from payments using cash to non-cash payments will inevitably also change existing business models. In the past, all business people naturally only relied on cash as the only means of payment. But today, businesses that provide non-cash payment media are actually considered as businesses that provide convenience, both for customers and for ourselves.
According to Bri Williams, a business consultant from People Patterns, the strategy to provide non-cash payments has a big impact on the survival of our business. Because the ease in making payments will create a good experience for customers. And as business people, we should be aware to the tendencies and behavior of our consumers.
Instead of inconvenience because they do not want to change the way of payment, of course we better make changes to something more positive. So that the business we run continues to run smoothly, of course we ourselves must be flexible and good at reading opportunities, right?
